Hey, Mayors! The Atelier of Aromas event is back, and we know last time it… well, it raised a lot of questions.
It might have felt like it was all about random luck and wasted Catalysts. But what if we told you this event is less like a slot machine and more like poker? It’s all about resource management and calculated risks.
We asked our Game Designers for their insider tips on how they play the event, and we’ve compiled the ultimate guide to help you max out your prizes!
💥 The golden rule: “Use your catalyst correctly!”
This is probably the most important tip.
Many players make the same mistake: they see a good resource (like 10 Superbucks) and try to “upgrade” it with a Catalyst, hoping for 20. 90% of the time, this just leads to disappointment when you lose a good item.
The smart tactic:
The Catalyst replaces the item in the jar. Only use it on rewards you absolutely do not want.
Why is this better?
- You risk nothing: You didn’t want that reward anyway.
- You might get something great: There’s a chance a Purple Jar
- You get GUARANTEED progress: Every single time you use a Catalyst, you get 8 progress points toward the grand prize. So even a “bad” replacement is a step closer to the final reward!

💡 Transparency is your key advantage
The biggest advantage of this event is that you see all the rewards on the board. No mystery boxes. Use this!
- Like it? Grab it with the solvent.
- Love it? Use the x2 Bonus and then grab it!
- Hate it? See Rule #1— ruthlessly reroll it with a Catalyst!
♟️ Two winning strategies (based on your resources)
Your playstyle should change depending on how many Catalysts you have.
1. The “Pragmatist” play (low on Catalysts)
Your goal: Save resources and get maximum value with minimum risk.
- Step 1: Scan the board. Immediately use your Solvent Drops to collect everything you like or think is “good enough.” Don’t take chances.
- Step 2: Use your few Catalysts on the remaining “bad” items. Your goal isn’t to hit the jackpot, but to get the +8 progress points and maybe get a lucky reroll.
- Step 3: Once the board is clear or you’re out of Catalysts, collect your rewards and move to the next board.
2. The “Hunter” Play (lots of Catalysts)
You can afford to risk a little for a big payout.
- Step 1: Use your Solvent to grab only the absolute best items on the board (Superbucks, rare resources you need for other events or quests).
- Step 2: Start systematically rerolling (using Catalysts) on the other jars.
- Goal: To hit a Purple Jar or another top-tier item.
🔬 Event mechanics you might have missed
1. Jar evolution:
There’s a clear path when a Catalyst changes a jar’s color (and value):
Blue –> Yellow–> Green –> Pink

- Purple Jars can appear by chance on any reroll.
- Blue Jars give the fewest resources.
- Pink Jars are the most expensive to collect, and the high Solvent cost isn’t always worth the risk.
2. Cost Matters!
Not everyone noticed this: Jars of different colors require a different amount of Solvent to collect! Always check the cost when planning your next move.
3. The Almighty “x2 Bonus”:
The Doubler bonus is your best friend. Obviously, it’s great to use on resources you need most, like Superbucks. But here’s a pro-tip: if you’re desperate for more moves, you can use the x2 Doubler on a jar of Solvent Drops!
🎁 Is it all worth it? (spoiler: yes!)
Here is what makes this event a great opportunity:
- Immediate Returns: You don’t need to max out the progress bar to get value. The Level 1 Building already provides Seasonal Currency. Every level you unlock after that is a pure bonus that boosts your building’s stats!

- The “Reward Loop”: It’s all connected! Playing the event earns you puzzle pieces. Completing those puzzles gives you rewards, which often include more resources for the Atelier of Aromas. It’s a perfect cycle.
- Don’t Miss Freebies: Are there free reagents? Absolutely. Check the Bank and the Puzzle window—you can find free Catalysts and Solvents there. And yes, you can use your x2 Bonus on them on board too!

We hope these tactics help you see the Atelier of Aromas in a new light. Happy experimenting!
